Klaus Haupt

Klaus Haupt works at the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency that implements a series of education programmes under the mandate of the European Commission. Since March 2015, he is heading the unit that deals with the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, which are a key component of the EU's Erasmus+ Programme (2014-2020). The action supports international study programmes delivered by higher education institutions which award full degree scholarships to the best master students worldwide. Before that, Klaus Haupt was responsible for six years for the management of the EU's Tempus programme which promotes higher education cooperation with the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Northern Africa and the Middle East. Previously, he was Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture dealing with international cooperation policy in higher education. Earlier assignments included overseeing the EU's higher education programmes with South Asia, China and the ASEAN countries. Before joining the European Commission, Klaus Haupt worked at the German Federal Ministry of Education and in Germany's Permanent Representation to the European Union.
